The office of Assistant Director (AH) Nagarkurnool has came in to Existence as per G.O.Ms.No.23F & RD Dept., Dated :- 09.03.1976 , Under Drought Prone Area Programme. now it is became District Head Quarter and formed as District Veterinary and Animal Husbandry office Nagarkurnool from 11.10.2016 onwards Vide G.O.Rt No.158,AH DD & F (AH) Dept Datd.11.10.2016 Presently The Jurisdiction this district comprise of 89 Institutions covered in 20 Mandals w.e.f 11-10-2016.the area falls in MLA constituency of Nagarkurnool, Achampet,Kalwakurthy , Kollapur & partly of Jedcherla assembly segments.
TOPOGRAPHY

  • Topography of the area is generally with rocky and gravel patches the soil is predominately red and chalky patches and block cotton soil area also found in Bijinepally ,Nagarkurnool & Tahdoor area .
  • There are assured sourses of irrigation through MGKLI & tanks. Main source of irrigation is through bore wells also.
  • The main rain feed crops are maize,Jowar, Caster, Redgram, and Millets, under irrigation Paddy, Groundnut, Cotton are grown.
  • The major source of income of farmers of this area is from Agriculture & Sheep rearing & Dairy only.  The majority of farmers raring Sheep only in this area. Dairy cattle in Kalwakurthy,Vangoor,Urkonda,Veldanda & Some parts of Achampet & nagarkurnool Area.
  • The forest area is predominant in Amrabad, Achampet, Balmoor, Lingal, Peddakothapally & Kollapur which is under tiger reserve forest.
