DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES OF WOMEN, CHILDREN, DISABLED, SENIOR CITIZENS WELFARE DEPARTMENT NAGARKURNOOL DISTRICT :

All the Women Children Disabled and senior citizens Welfare activities are being conducted under District Welfare Officer under Chairmanship of the District Collector. The District Welfare Officer is responsible for the following activities in Nagarkurnool District.

  •   I.C.D.S. (Arogyalakshmi Flagship Programme)
  • ICP
  •  Children’s Home
  • Sakhi (one stop centre)
  •  Distribution of Aids and appliances to Disabled persons
  •  Marriage incentive to Disasbled persons
  • Financial assistance to Disabled persons
  • Implementation of maintenance and welfare of parents and Senior Citizens
    Act, 2011

INTEGRATED CHILD DEVELOPMENT SERVICES (I.C.D.S.):

In each erstwhile Block one ICDS Project is functioning. Total (05) ICDS Projects are functioning in the District.

    The main objective ICDS Scheme is to reduce IMR, MMR and to improve the nutritional status of Women and Children.

Each Project is headed by CDPO. The CDPO is in charge of implementation of all ICDS Services, social and empowerment issues of Women and Children covering 3 to 4 mandals of the project area. She is assisted by 5 to 10 Supervisors (@one Supervisor for 25 AWC) depending on No. of AWCs sanctioned in the Project. At present (908) No.of Main Anganwadi Centers & (223) No.of Mini Anganwadi Centers sanctioned (Total:1131AWCs) under (05) ICDS Projects in Nagarkurnool Dist.

Arogya Laxmi:

One Ful Meal is state government flagship program with aim to improve Nutritional status among Pregnant & Lactating mothers, also to reduce IMR & MMR in the state by providing “One Full Meal”.

One Ful Meal Programme is being implemented in Nagarkunool District from 1st January 2015 providing One full meal benefiting 8406 Pregnant & Lactating Mothers, 14069 (3-6yrs) Children’s and the total beneficiaries are 22475 in 20 Mandals of Nagarkunool District (05 ICDS Projects).

Expected outcomes of Arogya Laxmi Scheme:

  •  Enhance the quality and acceptability of nutrition by the pregnant & lactating mothers 
  •  Improve the enrollment of pregnant and lactating mothers at AWCs
  •  Ensure that pregnant mothers consume 90+ IFA Tablets
  • Decrease prevalence of anaemia & under-nutrition among pregnant & lactating mothers 
  •  Ensure that pregnant and lactating mothers receive health checkup and immunization 
  • Reduce the incidence of low birth babies and malnutrition among children
  •  Reduce the incidence of Infant Mortality, Child Mortality and Maternal Mortality

Main Components of Arogya Laxmi Scheme:

  • Everyday one boiled Egg and 200ml milk to all Pregnant and Lactating mothers apart from One Ful meal
  • Weekly 4 boiled Eggs to the Children between 7months to 3 years and everyday Balamrutham
  • Everyday one boiled Egg and snacks to the Children between 3 to 6 years apart from One Ful meal

POSHAN ABHIYAN :

Poshan Abhiyan being implemented in the District from March, 2018 aimed at reaching every household with the message of Nuitrition. The main objectives of Poshan abhiyan are
1. Reduction of stunting in children
2. Reduction of under nutrition in children
3. Reduction of anemia among young children, women and Adolescent Girls
4. Reduction of Low birth weight
The programme is being implemented with convergence of Line Departments i.e Health, Panchayathi raj, Rural Development, RWS, Food and public distribution Departments.

INTEGRATED CHILD PROTECTION SCHEME (I.C.P.S.):-

To protect 0 – 18 years age group children in need of care & protection.
Integrated Scheme to protect children in need of Care & Protection.

  •  It aims to provide for care and protection of all the children in need of care and protection and children in conflict with law.
  •  To contribute to the improvements in the wellbeing of children in difficult circumstances
  •  Reduction of vulnerabilities to situations and actions that lead to abuse, neglect, exploitation, abandonment, and separation of children.

CHILDREN HOMES:
Children Home is functioning at Achampet.
Orphan and Semi Orphan girls are admitted in children home and they are provided free boarding and lodging. They are provided school education. Their stay is continued up to completion of 10th Class. After completion of 10th Class they will be sent to Collegiate Home, Hyderabad for Collage Education. At present strength is 30 (Girls)

Marriage incentives:-

  Rs.1,02,00,000-00 were sanctioned to   142 Couples.  Marriage incentive being sanctioned to normal person who marries   Disabled person.

Financial Assistance:-

Rs.54 lakhs 98 thousand were sanctioned to 40 Disabled persons as subsidy to establish Self employment programmes.

Welfare of the Senior Citizens:

  Revenue divisional wise tribunals were set up for welfare of the senior citizens.  3 Old age homes are functioning in the district run by  NGOs with Grant in Aid received from Government.

Sakhi (one Stop centre):-
Sakhi (OSC), Nagarkurnool started functioning from 8-3-2019 with Central and State funds.
Sakhi (One Stop Centre) is intended to support women affected by violence, in private and public places, within the family, community and at the workplace. Women facing physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and economic abuse, irrespective of age, class, caste, education status, marital status, race and culture will be facilitated with support and redressal. Aggrieved women facing any kind of violence due to attempted sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, trafficking, honour related crimes, acid attacks or witch-hunting who have reached out or been referred to the OSC will be provided with specialized services. The following Victims approached Sakhi centre so far and received needful care and protection:
