FISHERIES
Fisheries sector plays a vital role in providing nutritious food to public besides givingself-employment to local fisher folk. Nagarkurnool District has potential for fisheries development as there is a vast number of tanks, reservoirs, canals and Srisailam backwaters.In addition to the abundant water sources in this district the River Krishna and its backwater is embedded in the district, resulting in natural fisheries wealth which providing livelihood to fishermen. In addition, it has high potential for fish culture,as most of the tanks are canal-fed and perennialsources.
The district 134 Departmental Tanks including Reservoirs existing in the district with water spread area of 7198Hectares. And also1126 Grampanchayat Tanks existing with water spread area of 4146 Hectares which are in use for fish culture.

SCHEMES
1)Integrated Fisheries Development Scheme(IFDS): The State Government has introduced this Scheme to uplift to the Fisherfolk by providing various components with 75% to 100 % subsidy.

2)BlueRevolution:
The Central & State Government has sponsored and sanctioned Fish Ponds, Fish Rearing Ponds, Hatcheries and RAS (Recirculatory Aquaculture System) schemes under Blue Revolution for the development of Fisheries Sector in the District on 40% subsidy to General Category and 60% subsidy to SC/ST/Women.
Seed Stocking programme under 100%Subsidy:
The Government has introduced 100% Free Fish Seed Stocking Programme in all water bodies in the district for optimum utilization of the water sources for maximum fish production improving the livelihood of fishermen in the district. The year wise stocking particulars as shown below:
