INTRODUCTION:
Kalwakurthy Gram panchayat is upgraded as Nagarapanchayat by GO Ms No. 105, Dt: 22.03.2013 and it is upgraded to Municipality by GO Ms No. 69, Dt. 23.03.2018. It is an  ancient town and it was under the rule of Nizam of Hyderabad. At the time of Re-organization of the Districts in the Telangana State in the year 2016, Kalwakurthy town was included in Nagarkurnool district in Telangana state, as a Municipality, Revenue Division and Mandal. It is well connected with other  neighboring  towns  like  Mahabubnagar  (60 km),  Achampet (58 km), Nagarkurnool (36 km) and Kollapur (65 km).In Kalwakurthy Town the famous temples are Kapileshwari Swamy Gutta and Hanuman Temple. The famous Mysamma temple at Mysigandi is at 40 kms distance to Kalwakurthy Town.

The population of the town as per 2011 Census is 30091. Now the projected population will be 40000 and also the floating population is around 2500 daily from the surrounding mandals and villages. The total number of households 7500 with an average household size 4.0.

As per 2011 census the current population density in Kalwakurthy Municipality is 975. Though at the overall ward level & at habitation level, the gross density is quite low, the core, inner areas of the city and some of the older areas are densely populated.
